Pokran is surrounded with rocky, sandy and five salt ranges and it means “the place of five mirages”. The fort enjoyed a very strategic location as it stands on ancient silk route that carried salt, silk and spices to Persia and beyond.Fort Pokaran is a 14th century citadel and is the premier fort of The Chief of Mighty Champawats (the clan of Rathores) who received aristocratic title as of the first honour in The Darbar of the state of Marwar. The fort now is host to many travellers as it has been converted into a heritage hotel to show the world its glorious history where each stone speaks out volumes of the past.
