Chandelao was the seat of the ChandelaoThikana – an estate in the kingdom of Jodhpur.ChandelaoGarh was built in 1744 by Rao Kumpa’s grandson Rao Puranmal. The estate was given by the Maharajah of Jodhpur to Rao Puranmal for his bravery in battle and for providing a small cavalry for the Maharajah’s army. It has been tastefully converted to a modern simple hotel with authentic Rural Rajasthan hospitality. The rooms are comfortable and furnished with period furniture but these are unlike many luxury properties. A walk around the village will bring you face to face with the sights and sounds of Rajasthani village where you can experience local craftsmen working, animals graze, women in colourful native dress fetch water from the wells and lakes, children play in the street and everyone welcomes visitors with a friendly greeting.
